Default Serial Number Repository

Forgive me if this has already been suggested, but what about a serial number repository? I think it would be interesting to find sequential serial numbers, the one you had when you were younger, etc. Kinda keep some history on each tractor.

Probably for the same reason you do not see gun serial numbers usually on the pictures on the internet.

Somebody would come up with a document that says that it is the one that was stolen from them!!

I dunno... on the FA Cub forum I'm on they have a repository of serial numbers, there's a guy whose family had an IH dealership up through the 80's and he kept track of all the units they sold, some of the cubs they sold have shown up on there, a few have made cross country trips. I think that's what would be cool, if you knew where it was sold and where it has ended up.

I do think there is another CC site that has a S/N registry.

There are hundereds of IH Tractor serial number registries out there, along with various makes and models. I HIGHLY doubt that the only reason there isnt a Cub Cadet one is due to "one being stolen". Ive asked about this before and nobody could give me a straight answer. Id love to start one for 169's or 126's. The rare models. I think its a good idea.

I like this Idea and Think it would be interesting! I know I used to go on a site (IH Registry) a long time ago and they allowed you to register your IH Cub Cadets with the options it had / has and the SN and the owners. The site has closed down as far as I can tell, maybe something that OCC should embark on....

YES, there was another site that was founded on that notion of registering model and serial numbers. That site has been defunct for a couple of years now.

The BIG problem here is............this takes a lot of time to setup this data base, initial information, maintenance, and daily upkeep.

We (admin) have been thinking about it and we will look into it further.

I know over on redpower there are diff guys that keep track of diff models one guy will keep the serial numbers for the 1206's someone else does the 1066's someone else does the 1466's etc. I think its a cool idea to track the serial numbers of the cubs! To see how many are still out there!

I don't think your going to get a true number of what's out there due to not everyone that has cubs are online. Even if they are online doesn't mean they are going to enter in their serial numbers.

I completely understand how much work it is, just think it would be cool. I know I am just a new member, but I am not afraid to get my feet wet. If I can do anything to help facilitate this further along, I would be glad to help. I do have some website experience.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
