Need a seal
Okay guys, I'm scratching my head on this one. I installed the seal behind the PTO end of the Onan P220 motor I'm rebuilding the other night and I screwed it up.
I should have installed the seal in the bearing plate and then put it back together but I didn't. I tried to install it with the motor together and the seal is trash now. Here is the weird part. The seal is a Chicago Rawhide part number 538037. That number is stamped on the metal part of the seal. The Onan part # is 509-0041. I can not find this seal. I have checked with my local mom & pop auto parts store, O'Reilly's, Autozone and Advanced Auto. That number does not even come up in their system. The Onan parts places have it but ya gotta pay $8.00 shipping on a $12.00 seal and wait a week. Here are the seal specs. Shaft OD = 1.625 Bore = 2.371 Width = 0.5 http://new.bdiexpress.com/hu/en/Seal...8037/p/1253915 http://onanparts.com/index.php?main_...products_id=30 Why doesn't this seal come up anywhere?

Thanks Sam, I found that too. All the places I checked, typed that number in their system and nothing comes up. They can't even cross it over. That is strange.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
