I don't get what is up with repair parts pricing, either. I read many many years back that a $10,000 car would cost over $150,000 if bought "1 piece at a time"

I still buy nearly everything from my dealer. Most parts I ever need are on his shelf, and if he needs to order something it's there within a couple days, and no extra for shipping.
I may pay a little more than if I was to search the web for hours, but in the long run I'm saving on the shipping and keeping his lights on so when I need something today he'll be there.
And the good thing is he's a heck of a nice guy and knows what he's talking about, and "most" times understands what I'm talking about.
Plus, when I pull up to the front door, he comes out to the truck to find out what I need, get's me my parts, and rounds up the price to the nearest dollar, no change
Like the old days, service with a smile Sad part is someday he'll go by the wayside like the gas station attendant that used to pump your gas and clean your windshield. (I used to be one of those guys)
And all we'll be left with is the dumb a$% behind a counter that don't know his a&# from a hole in the ground

I buy all my parts online. Then I don't have to go out in public or waste $20 in fuel going to a cub dealer who don't have the part I need anyways!!!

this tactic eems to work for me with auto parts and tractor parts.

i look the part up online and see what it will cost me shipped, then i go into the local store and ask for a price, believe it or not sometimes it's cheaper (auto parts not cub parts lol) in most cases it is higher, and i will ask the seller if they can match the online price shipped. if they can, then they get the sale, if not then i order online......the local store gets the sale most of the time, sometimes they just can't. i get it.

Ugh, don't even go there. For our commercial stuff I go to a dealer that's an hour away, just because he treats me right. Last year Exmark was offering and additional $500 off on one of the series of walk behinds, went to the local dealer and he said if he offered that he'd have to charge me retail. So I drive an hour to the dealer I've worked with for 5 years anyway, he cuts about $900 off MSRP then gives me the $500 on top (like the company said).

My local dealer acts like you're a pita when you call to check on price and availability of parts. But if you are in there dropping $10,000 on a mower they have all the time in the world for you.I just simply quit doing business with them.Maybe some day when they have to close the doors for good, they might figure out where they went wrong. In todays world customer service will either make or break your business.I always try to keep my money l

ocal but I'll be €@×÷& if I will be treated like crapp and continue to do business with a snobby dealer.Im done complaining now.

Went to Autozone the other day to get new front brake rotors for my 1999 Ford Escort. Couldn't believe they wanted $37 each but thought I might need them so got them anyway. The minimum disc thickness on the new rotors said 20 mm, I measured them, they were 20.20mm. I couldn't believe it. They were thinner that the rotors on the car. Was I hot? you know it. I've been a Autozone customer for years but never again. I took them back, never to darken their door again. Thanks for letting me rant also

My long time (35 year) local dealer was bought out by a regional company and they dropped cub cadets. There is another dealer about 40 miles away, but I just order stuff on line now rather than driving.

Anywho....
I do both for parts. I'm like Sam, I always look up my own parts. I got tired of ignorant people who don't know the difference between a spark plug and a freeze plug looking for my parts. Now, if they're wrong, it's my fault..... but even then I've had them enter the number in wrong.

I buy most of my cub parts on line. My local dealer is about 30 miles away and doesn't stock much older parts. Known him for years. Bought the 1811 off him 15 years ago! He was honest and told me I could order direct from cub and pay no more, maybe even less, than he was going to charge me. I appreciated his candor, and buy online. Still call him when I need something NOW, if he has it, I buy. Otherwise, on the net I go! Guys I've never had an issue when buying online direct from CCC. Have an account, just put the parts in the cart, click buy, and they show up in a couple days. Conformation e-mails and all necessary info along the way.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
