Default M18S Carburetor Replacment

Need help, my 1812 had been running funky since last year and I was short on time with grass season coming so took it to a local shop, according to them the seat is bad in the main fuel needle that sets the float level, non replaceable part. Said new carb is the only fix but the carb is no longer available, obsolete from Kohler since last year. I searched high and low and couldn't find one either, bailed on the shop and brought it back home.

My question is there any other carb I can run on this engine that might still be available?

Engine specs are,
M18s, Spec 24506, service # from original carb is 52 053 34, Kohler told me the superseded number is 52 853-30-S

Thanks in advance for any help, desperate, the grass is growing!

There is no such thing as a "main needle that sets float level". What is it doing? Never had a carb that couldn't be fixed unless the body was cracked.

Picture of the carb you are dealing with may be helpful here.

That term came from the Kohler manual I downloaded online, here are some pics of the carb, I now realize what I have is not the same that's in the manual, guess shouldn't be surprised. The shop said the carb failed a pressure test, installed carb rebuild kit, still failed pressure test, new carb needed. Maybe I shouldn't be so quick to think I need a new carb. Tractor is not running at all now, battery was almost dead so have a charger on the battery. Shop said had spark and good compression but fuel was running straight into cylinders so wouldn't run. Small time local shop, guess I should know better.

I don't think I would take anything back to them, ever. Sounds like they screwed the carb up trying to rebuild it and now it leaks. See if you can find you a good adjustable one from the sponsors and stay away from the Walbro's if you can, or if the link Sam posted will work that would even be better.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
