Economical dual coil replacement.
Just looked up the coil for a 782 and about had a heart attack when I saw $280. I'm looking for a more economical replacement and found some inexpensive dual coils on eBay but wanted to here some opinions on the matter. Here's a link to one of them, would this be suitable and if not what do you recommend? Thanks.

I have heard of people using the HD coils.
Here is another option but not as cheap. http://www.kirkengines.com/index.php#DualSuperCoil http://www.gphope.com/store/1640

I done a little searching on the Internet for Emgo #48-98618. Some of the sites state that the "primary resistance" is 3.9 ohms, which is inline with Kohler's 4-5 ohms.
Thus, I would say this would work.

I have since found the Primary and Secondary specifications. It will be a GOOD match.

It's common for manufacturers to use products already in existence for their builds. It's somewhat known that a Harley coil is the same/similar to the Kohler one. I always want to know, if it's the same part, how does Kohler justify the ridiculous price tag they put on theirs, when it's the same thing....
Nice find on the more economical part! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
