I'm excited about this! Been hearing about it too much!
Your like me though.... good planning takes time. Time to plan, and time to purchase the parts needed. We'd go broke trying to do it all at once!

Just ordered a set of rear tires tonight. They are identical to the ones Nightow1 has on his 782. These particular tires are labled 26x12-12 manufactured by Duro. However, they are much smaller than the Carlisle true powers and similar, name brand ag lug tires. I have been very impressed by their performance on the 782. They also look more proportional vs the dinky 23" tires, and huge 26" tires respectively. In all reality they measure closer to a 24.5 x 10.5-12...
Nightow1and I took one of his over and stuck it on dads 1864. With nothing more than 1/4" between the tread and fuel tank, the whole shebang (fenders, foot rests, fuel tank etc...) will need to be raised about 1 1/4" to give a reasonable gap. We also talked about putting a "skid plate" under the tank for a little more protection. Im going to Lincoln Tuesday with the wife to get a bunch of rockshaft and hydraulic stuff from Surplus Center. If it works out, I am going to bring the 1864 pallet into the shop and get the frame bolted to the rearend. Then I can finally get to work on this thing!

But if you need to use all 4 alternately with something on the front and back its impossible if they are teed together. So the 18 will have 3 12v selector valves to remedy this "problem" along with the already proven independent deck lift/3pt. Also decided to install flange bearings for the top rockshaft to help with friction and binding while lifting heavy loads. I ordered 36 flare nuts and sleeves from Mc Master and it looks like im going to be a couple short. Going to order 100' of 3/8" brake tubing tomorrow. Heres a picture of todays haul.

Having done all types of hydraulic work on aerial lift trucks for the last 30 years, I'm anxious to see this build! Sounds great!
