Allen the STD means standard size. Kinda confusing with the stickers on there if it's been short blocked or not. I can't see if it's been resleeved or not. Maybe someone else knows.

I wondered if that stood for standard so I looked very very close at it and did not see a sleeve ..... doesn't mean it isn't there I guess, but it has very good compression.. again the cylinder still shows cross hatch.. you right its confusing with now clean and nice it is inside the engine.. the tractor over all seems to be in good original condition with the expecting of some touch up spray paint in places.. who knows!

Shortblocks come with standard pistons.A shortblock is basically a new block, hence,I like that word, the STD marking on it.

Like Matt said that has been short blocked. When we short block engs they send us new stickers like that to put over the old. Dosnt look like theres anything wrong with the bore. May be carb settings a little off but looks good. Sucks that you have to pull the eng down to fix the gov, gear. Its up to you if you want to put the balance gears back in it, I wouldnt................ but what do I know!

Hey vince, is there a way to look up those serial numbers to try and tell when the work might have been completed?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
