Head bolt question
I have a leaking head gasket on an Onan P216 so I pulled both heads the other night and of course one bolt broke off about 1/4 above the block.
I looked just about everywhere and can't find replacement bolts....OEM are too much $. The bolts are 5/16 X 2" long with 1.5" of them threaded. Where is a good place to find them? I've looked at McMaster, Summit, GreedBay, Amazon & Googled them but I can not find a grade 8 bolt to match. TIA

Thanks all. I looked at a lot of those this morning but they didn't give the thread portion like McMaster does. Most of the grade 8's don't match the amount of threads on the OEM.
Look at the cad drawing of the partially threaded 5/16x2". https://www.mcmaster.com/#91257a591/=1boaa2x I don't think that will work. Would there be any issue using a fully threaded bolt? I'm thinking no but I sure wish the partially threaded would match better.

Todd, don't you have a local hardware store or something that sells bolts? My local stores do, and so does Rural King. (I know RK's aren't in the south, but TSC, ect...)
There is no issue using an all threaded bolt. How long of threads do you need to go into the block? Should be a flat washer on there too, isn't there? |

I'm an idiot!
I didn't think these China bolts would work from TSC by looking at them. DSCN3517.jpg It looks like they will work if I use the original washer and add 1 more.....guess I shoulda checked before I posted.

How about studs?
You could also try ARP, they make some great stuff for race engines http://arp-bolts.com/ This is a 5/16X 2 bolt http://arp-bolts.com/kits/ARPkit-det...?RecordID=2689

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
