Well... kind of like my planter, I haven't done anything to the blower all week, but wanted to give a report. Waiting on Maple Hunter to get back to me on the decals for the housing. Once I have the new decals (I approve of) in my hand, I'll sandblast the housing to finish welding it, and round up final parts for assembly. I looked at my shafts today, and still haven't made the decision on whether to replace them. Other than being a little rusty, they're fine. May just polish them and run them. This thing likely isn't going to see much use anyway. More of a toy than a tool, but I want it usable, and to last another 40 years using it if choose to. Hopefully, I'll hear something next week. If not, I may go to a local vinyl shop.

Well, just a quick update. Oak was asking me where I am at on this over the weekend, so I guess I should share.
I sent the pictures for the decals to Maple Hunter..... and that's where I am. Haven't heard from them for 9 days. No emails, no calls, no we don't want to do it, no we're working on it.... NOTHING. I emailed them this afternoon.... no reply as of yet. Now, I usually expect an email response in 24 hours, so if I don't hear back by tomorrow afternoon, I'll likely give them a call. At this point, not too impressed with their customer service, but they have the chance to redeem themselves, should they choose to. I'll let you guys know! |

LOL! We didn't have snow here when I started it! Got an inch or two during, but nothing to fool with, and it was raining today! We may get some ice, or even snow before winter is fully over.... but looking at the long range forcast, I think the snow is done here. My hope is it will be ready next winter. I will say, as it warms up, the interest in finishing it is diminishing...... I get that way. "Ah, I don't need it until winter.", I'll say. 'Till it's snowing and I'm like, "Damn, wish I had finished that project this summer!"
Didn't hear back from Maple Hunter today..... I didn't call them either. I had a pretty busy day. |

Hey Jon.....Glad to hear you got a 268!!! Those are real power houses and IH made them for several years. I have posted pictures of one on here in which I had the auger housing buried in snow years ago and it never even hiccupped! That is my go to snow thrower when I have to walk it. Mine is all white, I think they earlier ones had some yeller on 'em. You're going to like it's performance, but its a tank to scoot around (my space for it is small and I have to move it sideways to get it out). Are you going to put a snow thrower cab on it? When the wind is blowing and there is blow back, they are great, but they can hold some snow on their windows.
Nonetheless, glad you got a 268 and are inspired to bring it back to service! Cub Cadet 123

Where in the heck have you been???? Good to hear from you! I'm not the only one who does that........ I'm still waiting on Maple Hunter. I emailed them. Said they sent my pics to a graphic design guy. Guess they just print stickers. Can't design them. Honestly... getting a little impatient. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
