picture uploading
Hi,
Why do all the pictures i upload become upside down?? they are upright on my laptop and phone but are upside down when i upload them

I can't tell you why, but I find that when I take a photo with my iphone holding it horizontal with the home button on the right all is okay when I post pictures. When I hold it vertical or any other orientation, the pictures post wrong. To fix it I edit the pics on my phone. First I rotate the picture sideways and save it, then I go back and rotate it correctly and save it again. Can't tell you why it works, but it makes them post upright on here.

The Apple system photos have the orientation data on them (EXIF tags) in a way that Microsoft systems dont recognize. You can get a dedicated camera APP to correct the problem but then it will take longer time for photos to be stored.
Also, like Bill touched on you can take photos in an awkward way (Iphone volume buttons pointing up) and the photos then are stored in the correct orientation for Windows systems without the need to read that EXIF data.

Have you tried loading them upside-down to see if they come out right side-up?

You could also upload them to another program (ie. Photoshop, etc.) and then re-work them as needed before posting, save them and then insert them into your post. That is like what I do to post a pict.

This is the program I use. I have used it for 10+ yrs and it is the program I use the straighten out all the wrongly orientated pictures I see posted here on OCC.
Short learning curve and I would not be without it. It is called Irfanview and it is FREE..... www.irfanview.com
