I hate to beat this any more

But I just realized that Carlisle makes (or made) a super lug that is not the
same as the tru power, anybody have some insight on that?

The Super Lugs are really good tires.. But I don't think they make them in many sizes any more for some reason.. I have a set on a 1450 that we have had for years.. Pretty sure you can't get a 23x10.50-12 or a 23x8.50-12 in a super lug any longer..

Really not sure why they quit with them.. they were about as close as you could come to a Firestone without paying the Firestone price.. I guess the Tru Powers were a new design and they didn't want to compete with themselves?

I got my last set of 23x10.50x12 tru powers from Amazon. $92 each after tax and free shipping.

Edit: I just checked and they are now $132 each. Amazons price fluctuates from day to day so if you're not in a hurry they should come back down.

Shipping is $83,26 to my US warehouse service in NY, cheaper then m.e.Miller but still a good $69,60 more expensive for the 8.5" and $27.56 for the 10.50" then Summit. Minimal charge is $56 for close Illinois resident, not enough meat left to the bone.

What are guys doing with these AG tires... does everybody here go tractor pulling? or are these 'Show' tractors?? Ive had 4 or 5 pairs of them and the only thing I thought they were even half decent for is turning over the garden with a bottom plough once a year. I just took a pair of nearly new Tru Power 23/10.5/12 off of my GT loader because they dont work in the snow worth sht IMO. Even on my bigger tractors they dont work well in winter. On a show tractor I get that... I bought new ones for the 'Look' to put on my old Bolens... but I wouldnt buy them for a tractor that I actually need to use on any regular basis.

and yes of course I realize they would work better with with weights and/or loaded with fluid but that costs even more $$$... and that works with any tire regardless of the tread style.

Not trashing anyone elses decisions here or trying to start a flame war... but the title of the thread is 'AG tire preferances'... well I prefer to swap them out for ATV tires.

I think they sold the Super Lug rights to Deestone. My 1811 has a set of them on it. I couldn't disagree more that they are even close to the Firestone. The old Goodyear lugs that they used to sell as ag tires as the lug option were the ones that were almost identical to the Firestone 23deg tires. I'm not all that impressed with the Super Lug Carlisle. They're OK.... not bad. But not at all made like the old Goodyears or the Firestone.

I work in the ground with my tractors. I don't want an ATV tire. Although I have not put them on a GT, I've ridden a lot of 4 wheelers. I can't fathom they would do as well as an AG. For snow.... I can see an ATV tire working well. But snow removal is only part of the jobs for my tractors. With a set of weights and chains, I have no issues with traction in the snow. I prefer the have a good "all around" tire. I do agree, different tires work better for different things. But IMHO, the ag tire is the best one for all jobs.

I just help the OP finding the best deal possible Lance but since your asking and as far I'm concern, I will never put a set of those AG on any of my GT or SGT because I don't have a garden to take care of and the "Wow" factor is not my cup of tea. I prefer the smooth ride of a good set of turf who give plenty of traction with a set of chain in winter.

I don't know why anyone want to "torture" their butt riding on those AG doing snow removal on the hard pavement, I guess some have more padding there.. Apparently riding motorcycles for almost 40 years didn't make me a hard ass!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
