Default Went racing.

I spent the day at the track with my son, here's a video of his third qualifier in the beginner class.

Tim, That looks like a blast! Who had more fun you or your son? Is Santa bringing you any RC car/truck/(tractor) stuff?

Looks like fun! Couldn’t get my boys interested in RC anything.
I went to the RC onroad gas nationals this summer.

"CORNER"
Looks like fun. Carpet? At least it's clean, used to hate coming home from a night of indoor dirt racing. Especially when the track wasn't watered down before hand. (dirty)
Is that track close to you? Looks like there isn't a big crowd. Should be picking up this time of year...

The track is clay. It's pretty wet and we run slicks, after the slicks get a coating of clay on them they stick to the track like velcro. Since the clay is wet there is almost no dust.

The turnout was ok, about 30 people. There was 9 races per round, we ran 3 qualifier's and a main. The doors open at 9 and racing starts at noon, we got out of there about 7. The track is about 1 1/2hrs away.

What kind of weirdo kids don't like rc cars? Were you racing at the gas nats or just spectating?

Friends of mine still race. I do not anymore. I used to travel a lot to races, been to the worlds in Texas and Florida. I didn’t enjoy the worlds cause of the pressure being put on the racers. Company’s futures were at stake and there was tension in the air thick enough to cut with a knife. Nobody was friendly especially the Europeans.
Nats are way more fun. You can go up to lets say Ralph Burch and bs with him about stuff.
I used to make custom parts for 1/8 and 1/10 cars ( carbon fiber stuff mostly)
This is how I know most of these people
But I found the only cheaper people than cub collectors were RC racers.

Nice Vid Tim, I used to operate an indoor carpet track(many years ago) and always enjoyed watching the young drivers as they learned and got faster. I raced alot locally myself but never went to the Nats or anything like that. Still have all my toys.... cars, trucks, planes and helos.

Back when I was racing the AE RC10 electric buggy was the newest and greatest thing on the market, its practically a fossil these days.

They actually have retro kits available so you can buy an rc10 buggy brand new, I've seen a few tracks that actually have a vintage class.

My buggy is an rc10b6 and my truck is an sc5m, both are the top of the line from team associated. My son's truck is an sc10 which is the last gen model but it would still be fairly competitive in the right hands, it's plenty for him to learn on and I have a ton of spare parts for it from back when I was racing that gen truck.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
