Sam Mac, Thank you for the info on that guy and the link to the Facebook ad for the 1320. The transaxle in the 1320 was a known weak point, and the fact that mine lasted 28 years is an anomaly. I guess before the internet, we did not know these things? What I don’t want to do is spend any time putting another transaxle in my Cub that has a poor reputation... Even if it is a “bolt in”. I have done some research, and am looking at the Tuff Torq K66. It has good reviews, and should be able to handle anything I throw at it. That said, what I have yet to find are the dimensions on this unit. I don,t know if it will physically fit the frame without major surgery. I would like to avoid that... If anyone has access to the dimensions on this unit, I would greatly appreciate it!
Danny

Zippy1, Thanks for the reply. I probably should have used the word "frugal" instead of "cheap"... I am the person who tends to overbuild things... I am an engineer, designer and fabricator by trade. In my work, I am tasked with designing and fabricating the kind of things you can't buy...

Thanks for the information . Thanks!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
