Model 2 tiller
I have been searching the forum for awhile and found some differen information but wanted to see if there was any newer information. I am looking for some information for my dad on replacing the tines on his model 2 tiller that he has hooked to his Cub Cadet. He found out that he could replace the tines from cub /international for $25 a set but with 12 sets that is very expensive. Are there any aftermarket options out there. Or are there any tines from other companies that would work as replacements. One of the posts I read said a John Deere number would work but wanted to check. Thank yoy

Welcome to the forum!
Yes, there are other options out there. I can't link them, or give you part numbers, but people like Oregon and Stens make replacement tiller tines. You buy them by size. Measure the old set, and match up a new set. I've looked into it before, and no matter what it's going to cost a bit to replace them. FWIW, they can be sharpened, and you can weld a bead of hard surface the back side of them so they sharpen themselves. Good luck! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
