There just isn't enough cost difference to buy the Vulcan even though it is on sale for $749.

I have a Lincoln Ranger 8 stick welder that is powered by a 20hp Command. Great welder if I wanna build a bridge or high rise building.

I've been doing a bunch of thinking about what to do.

-- Do I need a multi process welder with the Lincoln that I have?
-- I've never Tig welded and don't know if I will but it looks a lot like silver soldering that we do a lot at work so I think it would be pretty cool to do.
-- Mig is probably what I will do most, I think.

Here is what I've narrowed it down to but still have a bunch of questions.

Millermatic 212 Auto-Set Mig welder.

-- Miller seems to have a very good reputation and I'm kind of leaning that way.

Esab

-- The Rebel EMP 215ic looks nice but it is multi process and made in China but I'm not sure that is a bad thing.

-- I really like the ESAB Fabricator 252i but I think it is being phased out of production and Esab is pushing the Rebel in its place.

I kind of quit asking questions about welders on here cause I've been kicking this purchase around for a long time and I know as my dad would say "it's time to $hit or get off the pot".

Miller is King of the Hill around here! That 212 is a very nice machine.. I have a neighbor that has that exact unit!

I have been eyeballing a 211 Miller for a while now.. I want one bad.. The inverter technology is sooo smooth and will run off of 120V or 240V.. plus it only weighs 40lbs..

I am with you! It's time for me to do the same or get off the pot!!

Just like my Hobart 210 MVP right? Hobart is owned by Miller I believe. They are priced a little better I think. I have been very happy with mine for sure

Well, I puled the trigger on an ESAB Fabricator 252i Package with Single Cylinder Cart & Tig torch with foot control. I ordered it from Welder Supply Company but didn't receive it yet because they had to order it from Esab. I didn't even look for it locally because the local welding shops want to charge $300 to $500 more and act like you are being a pain in their arse for being in their store and asking questions.

I think you made a good choice. ESAB is a top notch machine. Never used one I didn't just absolutely love. Looking forward to the review!

ESAB is a great machine! you will enjoy it for years to come.. My local Miller dealer also sells ESAB. Too bad your local guys aren't helpful.. I am fortunate to have very knowledgeable and helpful guys at my local shop... But they are all nearing retirement age... not sure what I will do when they are gone.. the new generation... I'm not so sure about them

Good machine with excellent duty cycle, no MVP but at 65lbs who wants to carry that all day long anyway! The only problem I can remember was the TIG foot control but it was long ago when they were sold under the Thermal Arc brand since then Colfax Corporation rebrand them 2 times and made few changes.

Let us know how it work for you.

I was looking at the Rebel and that is what they are pushing now but I don't need anything mobile and wanted a single 230 volt input. Maybe those 2 things will keep the 'Hey, can I borrow that" from happening + it will only be used in the shop.

Good thinking
I grab my 18Lbs ESAB MiniArc for "Job on the fly" but no borrower is allowed to be less then 100' from it.

After 4 months of having it sit in the garage, I plugged up the China welder today and played a little.

I adjusted the settings as per the ones on the door and I think it welds pretty good for the first time I used it.

No China welder would be complete without a China helmet. This is the Harbor Freight Vulcan helmet.

This helmet is actually very nice to use. The only problem I had was when I forgot to switch it back to weld mode after I had it in grind mode and struck an arc......what's all those yellow things floating in the air?

This is the wire the mom & pop shop sold me. Dang it was pretty cheap too.

I know, I know....I shoulda went for a pretty blue welder but you all know me....I'm kinda different.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
