I found those too....
But the sickle driver is different. I'm starting to think maybe this was something someone attempted to modify to work on something else. Maybe they even succeeded, but don't have all the parts/ tractor. The sickle looks like a Kinco, but the driver looks like a Wheel Horse. Maybe we just haven't found it yet too..... |

Are the angle iron brackets merely bolted to the gearbox base plate for storage purposes?
The outer bar ground shoes appear to have been altered on the backside in order to bolt them to the bar. Most factory ones are rounded so that when you back up you still have some "ski" action instead of plowing the lawn. I still say it is a cobbled up homemade unit using various components from various machines. To be used on a vertical crankshaft tractor. And all of the steel from the bar to the gear box mount is shop made. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
