Default 42A deck question

Hi cub fans.
So I picked a a 126 yesterday, It cuts grass like no ones business, I had never used one of these fabricated decks before. My question is, Do these work well with baggers? Is there an adapter that can be purchased or do I need to make one? Also can mulching blades be put on this? Thank you in advance for any help.

I've heard of people putting gattor blades on a model 44a deck but not familiar with your 42a?

I might be mistaken on the model number. It is a fabricated 42" deck that was a stock deck on a 126. It has one center large blade about 22" and 2 outer blades about 11" each.

It’s either a 421, 422, or 423 deck. If you post a picture, we can tell you which one it is. Your best bet is to use it with a vacuum, not a bagger. Yes, you can put mulching blades on it. They made a mulching cover for the outlet of the deck.

Me personally, I think these triangle decks are some of the best cutting decks ever made. I’ve not owned anything that cuts as nice.

Ok. I have figured out it is a 421U1111 deck. I would like to find part numbers for mulching blades, mulching cover, and adapter to 6" round outlet for my track vac or a bagger. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys!

That is the First Generation of the 42" IH Mower Deck.

IH/CC never made anything of this stuff. IF you can find any of this, it will be home made or third party aftermarket stuff.

IH did make a mulching cover. Part number 473422R1. But they are almost impossible to find. Easier to make one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
