Cub cadet 149 hydro filter
Mods, please move this if in the wrong section. I was looking at the CCC and NAPA cross referencing section and and CCC lists part #723-3014 for the filter, NAPA part # 1084. Then there is listed a hydro filter for auto gear pump. Has the same CCC part# but a different NAPA part# 1410. I bought the 1084 filter before I saw this. Can I use the filter I bought or should I buy the 1410 filter? All help appreciated. Have a great day.

1410's don't have an anti-drainback valve (so I've read) to work with the autogear pumps. The 1084 is for the older Sunstrands. Either one will work. 1084 is what Napa lists for your 149.

A 149 has a Sundstrand. The 1084 has caused issues in the past on a Sundstrand. No, the 1410 doesn't have the drain back valve. That's why it works better. Been a long time since I looked at the over priced filter from MTD, but pretty sure it doesn't have a valve either.

I have been using Fram PH2844. No problems, compatible to all on the list and decent price.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
