Hello Jimmy! You picked up a great looking original, unmolested 70. Your clutch cover is worth solid and getting harder and harder to find. Looks to have been well taken care of and it has a replacement engine on it. I hope you find the forum helpful in your needs for advice and the people on the forum knowledgeable and friendly.

You should name that come E. Pluribus Unum......in a little bit of time, you will know what I mean!

Welcome along! Nice model 70. Seeing that the engine is painted black, this could be a replacement engine, but that don't make a hill of beans, lol! Any info or history surrounding this icon?

Nice to see an original looking 70! It's in really nice shape.

Can you snap a shot of that dealer tag? Those are fun to see.

Wow!! What a nice Original unmolested machine that is!! You don't find them like that every day. Congrats on a great little machine! Do you plan to use it as is or restore?

Thanks guys!
I bought the machine from a collector in Stillwater, OK. I plan to put it to work. I'm sure I will fix it up a little at a time. If I wanted to do a full resto, I would need another one for work duty. I will snap a pic of the dealer tag after work.

Something to ponder:
they are only original
ONCE
There seems to be a lot of interest in original things as the years roll by.

I say leave it alone too. It’s got a good original look.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
