Wanted to make sure the bumper was a fit. Even though the quick attach release lever is not installed to my 1450, ( to be painted ) the bumper fit and seated as should! Enough of this thread until I get some real progress made.

I was a little skeptical deciding on them just by viewing them. I some what looked around for pictures of what they were like on a QL, but never really found any. I even thought the price was too high AT FIRST , but once in my hands I was amazed by them! I thought the price was then too low,

The weights are about 10# each! So 60# up front is what I have. Very heavy package to arrive for sure! The parts came in two packages, and were expertly packaged with care. I am a very happy camper! On another note, still have a few couple items to prep and paint before I want to get into the engine and setting up the driveline. Got the firewall all fixed up nicely and painted. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks J! After today in my neck of the woods, the temps are going to climb up, and that means I can rattle can a few of the parts I've taken off, and proceed forward. Got a new can of Krylon Red primer the other day, tossed the sale receipt. Stubborn can cap gave me such a fuss trying to remove it, that my thumb went right on through and snapped off the can spray nozzle! So, new can of primer down the drain.

Default 1450 Firewall Fix Up

So, I finally got the firewall to my 1450 fixed up about best I can. First, I removed the old, worn and torn rubber gasket from the outside perimeter. I then drilled out a spot weld which would be the top left side fuel tank strap mount. This was broke in half. I then used the same procedure to remove another strap mount from my parts 1250. Using a small fine thread + screw and nut to secure it to the firewall body. Then I noticed a crack about half way through the width of the lower strap mount on the same side. My guess would be that this probably happened because the top mount was compromised. So, I bent the mount back into the flat, seated position. Drilled a hole, and used the same screw and nut to secure that location. Worked like a charm

Next, I used my Dremel tool with a grinding stone attachment and smoothed around the oval hole in the left side of the firewall that the engine controls pass through. Then, I lightly sanded the firewall body being careful not to remove any unnecessary factory paint. This was still a good seal. Washed with warm water and soap, and let dry. So being that I like the flat black look better than the gloss, I sprayed the firewall with a good black bbq grill paint. I then found a much better firewall perimeter gasket to install. I used a dab of krazy glue on the foam piece to secure the ends back to the firewall body. I plan to use the same paint for the engine and tins. Me likes it!

Below are two picts, front and back of my finished 1450 firewall!

Thanks! Just doing what I can cosmetically, and as in a "refresh". There is nothing more irritating to me about my tractors than putting a rusty part back on simply because I don't have the correct yellow or that I'm not preforming a full blown paint restoration. Especially since I don't have all the painting equipment,....yet.

Looks great John!

What did you use for the firewall gasket?

Default Small Update

Got a little paint on these parts. Looks to be shaping into a future plow tractor. Anyway, weight bumper from Extreme, and rear sleeve hitch from Jeff. BTW, the rear sleeve hitch looks like it could twist right off the back of the tractor if it wanted to, as its pretty well built. I have the floating straps, and suit case weights to paint, among the entire 1450 rehab project, lol!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
