The 44c uses a 5/8 inch belt, your tractor PTO wants a 3/8 inch belt. Also, the mule drive (that mounts to the front of the tractor with idler pulleys) for the 44c (and 44a, 50a, 50c) decks have canted idler pulleys to accommodate the offset center drive pulley on the deck.
The 44a (and 50a) are similar decks with the narrower pulleys. You can use the 44c if you replace the center pulley on the deck with a 44a pulley (for the narrower belt) and put a different mule drive on the tractor. I'm pretty sure a mule drive from a QL (e.g., 1000, 1250, 1450, 1650) will fit and should have the canted idler pulleys. You'll need a different PTO to deck belt. I am in the process of converting a 44c to a 44a, for use on my 108. So it can be done. All the parts are available--pulley and belt at various CC suppliers (I use ccspecialties.org) and the mule drive is probably on ebay or you can look at some of the used parts suppliers listed in the resources forum on this site. I'll note that sometimes it's easier to just get a different deck, one designed to work with your tractor. Good luck.

On a C deck you also have to move the left front hanger to the outer hole to make it a A.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
