2 stage blower help
Just pickup up a 2165 with a 2 stage on it and the lift isn't working like it should. The blower doesn't come more than 2" off the ground. Wondering if this part I am posting a picture of is worn out or I should be looking for something else that's wrong. Any input is appreciated.

Alright I said forget that manual crap... I hooked it up a different way to make it work. Last issue I have is the auger gear box. The shaft spins going into it and the auger does not turn. Cheapest place to buy one?

Cub Cadet still sells them, take it apart and see what you need, may just be a broken key. Try our sponsors, ebay, ad in wanted section for parts.

It was a key/the gear inside of it. I took it all apart, didn't plan to paint and clean it up till next year but here we are ahead of schedule
Other needs include bushings, bearing, maybe a new shaft, the hole for the pin was shot... and maybe a new pulley, I dinged my a little getting it off, she was a rusty pos.

Good job, P.O plolly hit a dead frozen animal and broke it.
I guess the guy who sold it to you didn't know it was broken.

So I'm going to paint this while it's in pieces, and reference for paint? Rattle can works for me, any preference? Napa, TSC, etc. maybe a photo of the can you guys would use.

Unless you have someone cut you a new keyway slot in that shaft, better add "shaft" to the list of needed parts.
Edit: I guess you had it on your list. On that rusty thing, unless you sandblast it, I'd use some Rustoleum rusty metal primer and whatever color of yellow is close. That's what powder coat does when it starts rusting underneath it! NASTY! |

I believe the key way to be fine, the shear bolt hole has taken abuse. It's more of an oval now, the person before had an actually bolt and not holding it on which is what I think helped destroy the auger gear box.

I'm ordering 2 shear bolts, one worm gear, which was in pieces, and one worm gear key.
717-0528 and 714-0161 for the worm gear and the key. Does this sound right? http://www.cubcadet.com/equipment/AR...0-A/0047300002 http://www.cubcadet.com/equipment/AR...0-A/0047300001

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
