QA42A replacement pulley
Hi, where can I get a new pulley for my snowthrower? The one on it was cheap and had broken and welded by the PO. I want to get a new one that is not bent.
Thanks for your help!

If you know your sizes:
V-Belt Supply http://www.vbeltsupply.com/ Also try McMaster Carr--best search feature on the internet!! Sometimes pulleys and sprockets can be bought with "blank" bores--you have to machine the bore, broach the key and sometimes install the setscrew. Tractor Supply and Shoup carry a line of build your own sprockets and pulleys. Basically you buy a hub to fit the shaft and key. Then you buy the corresponding pulley or sprocket. Take them home and weld the 2 together. I think I have done one of the "weld your own" styles before. Certainly used the ones you have to finish machine. Not something you want to do unless you have no choice, as it can get time consuming and or expensive considering broaches and pulley taps.

You don't want a stamped steel pulley or a zinc one, they will go to Hell in a hurry.
I've seen those throwers eat every bit of 18 Hp when blowing snow back up in the the atmosphere. And when you loose a pulley, you get out the hand shovel or pay someone in a blizzard big $$$ to finish the job. Some places you can save $$, other places you have to CYA. An inadequate pulley is like a cheap condom. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
