Cannon, you think like I do. We do have Jeff when they stop making stuff. I sure hope it doesn't take me this long to replace the bearings in my 48GT. Although if I keep putting it off it may take longer! Hope to see it killing grass soon!

I got it all back together today. I even pop riveted the tag back on. I got it hanging on the hoist letting the paint dry on the bolt heads before I put it back on the 1641. Rustolum dries kinda slow. I'll get one more picture of it on the mower.

I got it on the 1641 today. There is a lot less noise now. I had the spindle covers laying on it in one of the earlier pictures but I probably won't run them. I have never used the rear gauge wheels on either of my 317 decks. I have 4 of the wheel post and all have the wheel bolt broke off in them. The paint is a worse match than I hoped but it's never going to the fair anyway. Two years, that's embarrassing. I appreciate the help and advise.

Looks good to me. As long as it works it's all good.

Thought I'd post an update. I used the 1641 at my sons house today and it's still working like a charm. It's cutting very good by my standards.

I had this deck off today to clean it up and sharpen the blades. After two years of use everything still feels tight but most of the paint is gone off the underside. All that work on a nice Rustoleum spray can finish wasted.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
