Default Today's Haul: Mars Sweeper for an Original

Got this from a fellow collector who bought it years ago from its original owner up in Minnesota, where it was manufactured. I passed on it years ago when he offered it for sale to me and regretted it. So when I saw it for sale this time around I made sure that I did not pass on it again.

The guy I got it from said that he has collected for years (he has a garage full of cubs, including about 4 or 5 chipper shredders, a steel cleated wheel original, and a 48" pin on deck still in the original box) and has never seen another one in person in all of his years as a collector.

If anyone has pictures or literature on this that they could post, I certainly would appreciate it, as it is missing the mounting brackets and lift rod/mechanism. I remember seeing a picture of an original with one on it a while back, but cannot find that picture anymore...

Yes it is. He's a good fella and very knowledgeable about his cubs!

Thanks guys! I'm very stoked to have it. I saw an old post from 2011 where I mentioned passing on it then I am glad to have it now. Hope to fix it up and see it run.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
