I bought two last year,,, my first ever in this size,,,
I thought 4WD would be a joke,, but,,, it is more of a necessity. The front tires are the exact same size as the rears on a Cub Cadet GT. Going forward, you never notice 4WD,,, but, back up,,, almost no matter what you are doing,,, the front axle does most of the work,,, I tried the 855 and loader in 2WD,,, 200 pounds in the bucket, and the machine stops,,, period. If you add enough ballast on the back to make up for no 4WD,,, the machine is no longer nimble. That much weight makes it into a slug,,, |

I just want to build a more powerful snow removal machine and from there I see were it goes. Those JD look good Cad but they are too expensive here or are all very high hour machine. Buying from your side of the fence is not possible anymore, the 40% money exchange charge I have to spend plus a fricking 15% import Canadian taxes just kill the deal for good.
If the right deal don't show up, I may just finish rebuilding my 364 blower and use it next year on the 1650 who need an engine "Refresh"... Who knows! Maybe a nice SGT will show up from nowhere around my piece of land. Here the SCUT feature on my list now: -Power steering /4 WD /Rear PTO /Hydraulic kit /Diesel engine /possibility of 600+ FL capacity /Smallest footprint as possible /Middle PTO if possible ($$$$)

For around the same money you could buy a 10-12 year old Cub Cadet 52XXD series sub compact that will be 4 wheel drive and diesel. All you would need then is a loader. Many I saw already had the loader. I just did a quick search and found a bunch for sale.

5000 series cub are "Lemons" the Diahatsu engine and all the tranny system don't even worth his weight if you sell it to the scrapyard, that's why you can find them for cheap.

I was unfamiliar with the issues. My neighbor has one and never had a problem according to him.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
