Cub Cadet Cat 0 Tiller
Hey all, looking for information on this tiller. Very recently purchased this on an internet auction for what seems to be a somewhat reasonable price. I know its missing some guards and what not, but until it is delivered. I cant give much of an idea on its true condition.
So yeah, any and all general information about these would really be appreciated. Like are tines still available, whats the model number, how wide is it, how heavy is it, are parts even available...?? IIRC, these were made by Befco, for the 982, but will otherwise work with any other Cat 0 tractor and 2k revrot PTO setup. Thanks

All I can get for a model is " 48" Rotary Tiller ". It's the early one, I know that. In case you didn't figure out from the model, it's a 48". That's 4' of IH awesomeness.
Here's the thing about tiller tines.... they are made by size. You may have a hard time finding the EXACT same thing that is on there, but I'm sure there are replacements. So far, even the old sleeve hitch 42" tillers you can find replacement tines for. Yes, will work on other GT's with the RR 2000 RPM PTO. Snapper, Deere, Craftsman to name a few. |

Sweet tiller Rescue! That is a 356 tiller, freaking heavy and IIRC it is 48" wide.
Here is what that tag should have on it. DSC01719.jpg Here is the one that came with my dads 982. DSC01724.jpg DSC01727.jpg They also made them for Snapper. DSCN1376.jpg DSCN1382.jpg They were also made for Ariens TA-20A Gilson J. C. Penney John Deere 35A -40 -300 -448 Massey Feguson 4850 Merry Montgomery Ward MTD Roper Sears Simplicity 1600199 Sovema S-SE-ST WheelHorse Here is a company that makes the replacement tines. They should be part #R50C & L50C....I think. http://cleancutter.com/cgi-bin/cctb_partno_search.asp Another member, Dave1953 did a bunch of research on these also and I would check with him too. Let me know if you need any more pics. I think I have a PDF of the manual if it is not on here if you need it.

Nice find! They are harder to find and if you do find one and the owner knows what it is, they can command good money. As Todd said, they are HEAVY. The top guard shouldn't be too hard to make. I'm sure there are some out there in part's land and you could snag the side cover. The guy I bought mine from had it on a 982. When mounted and in the air, he walked around to the front and lifted the front of the tractor. Prolly why CC had a front weight kit.
Here's some old pics of mine. It now resides in Cub Cadet Land AKA Pennsylvania.

Thanks for helping me out guys. Oak, thats a very nice looking 982!
One thing that concerns me is the guy said the previous owner used it on a John Deere 445. I thought the 445 uses a 540 PTO?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
