Welcome!! As others have said your project to get this tractor running could be simple or complicated relatively cheap or expensive. As a DIY project you will need tools and equipment but most of all you must have the service manual. Take lots of pics as you disassemble so reassembly will go easier. Jon has some good advice but for the most part this is not rocket surgery. Most of us have started like you and learned a whole lot in the process. There is a wealth of knowledge collectively here and we stand ready to throw in to help you out.

Thanks Paul! I'm taking a lunch break shortly and headed over to my friends house now to case the joint while he is at work. I will pull the tarp off and take as many pictures as possible. I've worked on this thing before and got it running pretty decently. I'm anticipating some electrical problems (honestly it was my notion last summer that I just wanted to replace the whole wiring system because it seemed like it has been modded). -Mike

Hey Mike, being the proud father of an Iraq Marine veteran, I admire your desire to help out a True American Hero, thanks Man!

I have learned a bit in my couple years on this forum, these guys are straight shooters even if you don't like what they have to say, their Cub and sometimes life experience are in-valuable in many respects.

That all being said, if you are committed to taking on this project these guys are the best to help you, they have helped me many times.

Keep us posted on the progress and parts needed, I have access to custom decals if you are looking to really do this tractor up for a Marine.

Good luck however you choose to do this.
Vic

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
