Which Forum Section
The forum is well thought out and constructed and most all of the sections are easy to understand. The most confusing thing for noobs and even some honest older members is to decide if a tractor should be posted in the IH or CCC/Mtd or LT sections. Yes, the mods can deal with it but I would suggest that a folder be created directly under the CUBCADETS forum heading entitled (IH Cub or CCC/MTD Cub or LT). Within that folder would be a locked thread with information that is presently linked in an obscure location. Such as the following...
...and any additional helpful info.

I don't think it's confusing. All the IH built Cub Cadets said IH or International on them somewhere. The only series that is an issue is the '82 series. Some were made by IH and some were made by MTD. No one is going to jab you that hard if you put that series in the wrong section as they are basically the same not matter who made them. Subtle differences is all. Any tractor made before the '82 series is IH.
If it's shaft drive, it's a GT. If it's belt drive, it's a LT. |

Frank:
Jonathon is right. The only series that bears confusion is the 82 Series. It was the "transitional" series. It started out at the tail end of IH's ownership, then transitioned into CCC/MTD. Another solid tell tale distinction is the Serial Numbers. If it is <699,999 it is IH. If it is 700,000>, it is CCC/MTD built. We (Admin Team) don't really jump on anyone for posting in the wrong section. We are aware of this confusion. We just simply move it to the right spot. That way, it gets the best exposure and the greater likelihood of the correct answer(s). But thanks for the suggestion.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
