Did IH build a 16hp/manual trans???
Just thinkin ahead here for possible projects... I think I would like a WF, 16hp K, and a manual transaxle, possibly a 108 or 128 with an engine transplant.

The only 16hp Cub's I know of we're the 1606 and the 582, the 1606 was made by CCC and the 582 could have been made buy either. I've often thought about dropping a k341 in my 108 and getting custom 168 decals for it.

You should do it Tim, it would be a tough tractor.
It isnt very common to find 16hp GTs with a manual trans but Im old so Im old school... tractors are supposed to have gears and a clutch, add some HP and you got torque at the wheels.... I like torque👍

As soon as I can find an engine from a 169 I will, I don't want to buy a 169 just to take the engine out and k341's go for big money around here thanks to the pullers.

A 1535 should be about right for you. 18 hp Magnum twin with creeper gear.
http://www.tractordata.com/lawn-trac...adet-1535.html If you feel like travel, I can put you on a nice one. A long time ago, I put a 14 hp Kohler in my 108. Had a creeper gear in it. The 14 made more noise, vibrated more, used more gas and didn't do any more for me than the 10 hp did so I pulled the 14 after about 10 years and put the 10 hp back in the tractor. I'd guess a 16 would be a little noisier, vibrate more and use more gas than the 14? |

What is the going rate for those engines in your area? Just curious.

Around here a running k341 can go as high as $500. There are several pulling clubs in the area and the pullers buy up all the bore bore engines.

Tim, I was told that a 1650 Jacobsen engine has the same oil pan as a Cub Cadet, but it would have a gear starter on it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
