The fastener in the pix is a stripper or shoulder bolt

Indeed it is!
Fits like a glove and I don't need to hammer on it when the right parts come in too.

No offense taken at all. I made sure to do that and will again when I need to put the correct pin in.

I'm impressed Ace actually had shoulder bolts on the shelf. Outside of a machine shop, the rest of the world never really uses those. Then again, I think the rear external brakes on Cadets have them, just a tad larger. Anyway, glad you got it patched up until the correct stuff comes in.

Im lucky to have a really good ACE (at least I think it's an ACE, it used to be for many years, I'll have to check the signs when I'm next there). I have driven it so many times chasing parts that I think my Sierra knows how to drive itself there.
Id be out of luck if I had to depend on the fastener hell that exists at Lowes, etc.

Hardware
I have a "True Value" hardware store about two blocks away. It's a little bit "pricey" on some items, but they have darn near everything. (Stainless, bolts and nuts, chrome, metric, it's like a walk-in McMaster-Carr)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
