The Case tractors have a history like cub. They are very good GT's and use a unique hydraulic drive system. My cousin and uncle used to have a 444 and a small wheel 222. Case sold the gt line to Ingersoll in the mid 80's IIRC, and then Ingy sold it to another Company a few years ago, but they are still made and pretty much the same design as the old Case units. I could see owning a Case someday.

I like the big rear tires on some of the Case GT's.

these were good tractors. some ran the kohler twins and some ran the Onan twins. the smaller ones ran Kohler K series engines. attachments are easily found for them, large rear tires make great for pulling and pushing, hydraulics are almost always standard. the only weird thing i notice about them, some of the decks discharge on the left side. but they have hydro powered tillers which are great and work very well. comfy to drive as well as the fenders come up past the seat so it almost feels like a big tractor.

My uncle had a 224 and a 444, we rebuilt the engine on both of them and drove them for a while. Used them for snowblowing and mowing, and if i could afford one-They cut really nice too little weird with the discharge on the opposite side than were used to but still good. I like the tall tire models better. Case's iso-mount system is much better than cubs being that its right there on the outside of the engine and i think there made a little better. The front pto-oil cooler fan can be tricky to adjust and mess with. Overall if you have the chance to buy one go for it!

They're definitely nice garden tractors. I don't think I like the hydraulic drive as much as the hydrostatic in the cubs. They can really get away from you on a steep hill. Granted, the manual does tell you how to drive correctly on a steep grade, but applying the break and having to hold the drive lever in reverse so that the hydraulic pump works against gravity, does take a little skill to get use to. Other than that, they are well built. I have a 222, which has the K301. The 400 series also has the K Series Kohlers in them, but you can get a cat 0 3 pt for them, while I've only seen sleeve hitches for the 200 series. And like someone else was saying, they have hydraulically driven PTOs for the tillers, which is kinda neat, I don't own a tiller for mine, just a mowing deck, so I can't tell you how well they work, but the folks at casecoltingersoll.com love them. My only other complaint is the belt that drives my mower is ONLY available through Ingersoll dealers, it is a certain thickness that you can't get at a big box store. So when I ordered one for my mowing deck, it costs around $40, but everyone told me if I adjust it properly and keep it clean of junk it will last forever. I'll let you know in 30 years.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
