Default Cub Cadet 2182 engine

I am looking for a Kubota gas engine for a Cub Cadet 2182. Contact information is in my profile.

You can always go Diesel, or drop a CH22 into it and make it into a 2284

I thought about a diesel engine. I will have to have another diesel Cub Cadet to do that. Radiator is in the front of the engine on a diesel. Radiator is behind the engine on a 2182.

I ran a Cub Cadet 1572 off and one last summer.....not impress with the 1572.

Putting the CH22 will require a bunch of modifying.....the question is it worth the aggravation.

I'm not the owner. I'm just trying to get it running again.

Nope same engine in a 1782 as a 1772. Easy conversion. Fan is mounted on the water pump on the 1782 and it runs off the flywheel end of the 1772. Otherwise same engine. You can use the existing 2182 cooling system, engine mounts, PTO Air cleaner ETC. You need to run a fuel return line back to the cross over vent line on the fuel tank. Holler if you have any questions

Turning it into a 2284 is a simple bolt in job as well.

Sam
Thanks for information. I didn't know the 1782 had the fan on the water pump.

My problem(s) are finding a diesel engine and convincing the owner to go diesel. Good running diesels in my area are hard to find. The owner doesn't really want to go the diesel route.

Just my 2 cents but if the tractor is nice I'd drop a 22 or larger CH in it.

Does the CH22 have a mag ignition? Looks like the 2182 has a battery ignition.....more changes to make. The CH22 may or may not be a bolt in.....Main problem is finding one in decent shape. Not sure what the going price for engine and support parts to make the change. Looks like I need to find a parts 2282 to fix 2182.

This 2182 has the rear 3 point hitch, rear pto, 2 stage show blower, 26-12.00-12 super lug tires and a 60 inch mower deck.

The owner doesn't want to spend big $$$ to fix it

Walker and Grasshopper ZT mower's used them also along with diesel versions. Refer trucks. Bobcat equipment. Military surplus. Don't rule out E-bay either.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
