Not sure why a lawn mower (even a SGT) needs a hammer strap but some one certainly was pulling some thing do to the wear of the original hitch. Got the parts yellow tonight that needed completing. Don't look too close. I think my metal prep is worse than my rattle bomb paint. Got the area cleaned so no complaining from the day shift. Day off tomorrow but wife has appointment. Might be able to chase some bolts, nuts, and washers tomorrow though. Need some more paint for the front end also...... if I pull the engine....

Nice progress, that's going to be a nice tractor.

I'm going to scrap the hitch plate off of this 1863, it's yours if you want to pay for shipping.

MWShaw. That is a fine offer but I think the plate I have should work.

Don't buy bolts or nuts at Lowe's (big box store). Good gravey, a bag of odds and ends was over $30!!!!. I said nope and put it all back. Picked up all the same and more for less than $11 at a big city fastener establishment. If you are ever in Syracuse, NY I highly suggest using Rumetco. They are phenomenal on the assortment and pricing.

Let's talk plastic gas tanks. Other than sloshing fresh gas around a couple times then dumping it out, any suggestions on cleaning them? The tank on my 2182 is the black plastic one and can't l see into it very well.

Steve

I use Super Clean and water to clean the tanks out. Not a big deal.

I get most of my nuts and bolts at TSC, they sell by the pound.

yea TSC is the best for most fasteners. I have a local owned fastener place up the road from me that sells stuff you can't find anywhere else. if its small quantities they'll just give it to you sometimes. "not worth writing up a ticket" they say! nice folks.

Dilemma for my PTO switch has been solved! When I bought this machine from the dealer, "someone" had robbed the switch and of course the nut which holds it in. I bought a new PTO switch from Cub and it came with out the nut. Low and behold-the nut is NLA from Cub. And NO ONE in my area had ever heard of the thread 1/2-27 x .10. So I was getting riled up about it and finally looked up INDAK- the manufacturer and called them. It was a Saturday evening. I got an answering machine. I left a message regarding my need for NUTS!! A guy called me back the following Monday morning, much to my surprise, and agreed to send me some nuts. I received an envelope with 3 nuts!!!!

INDAK - 1 847 272- 0343.

Good deal Steve! I have been needing one of those nuts too. Thanks!

Edit : After a search, this size is used on lamp fixtures ect. I may have to check that section of the hardware store next time I am there.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
