Default New guy from Charlotte, NC

Good morning,

The wife and I just bought a really nice house with a nice yard. Its far from huge but its not small. On average with my Toro, self propelled AWD mower, it takes me anywhere from 3 - 4 hours to mow and edge. Forget that....

Initially, I was thinking about the CC30H 30 inch riding mower but after seeing it in person and sitting on it, it feels like a toy. Now, I'm convinced that the XT1 Enduro is the mower for me. While I don't have a huge yard, I don't want to deal with the heat and time. Also, I have a pretty good hill in the rear (the Toro can eat that one).

Anyway, I'm going to pull the trigger this weekend.

Just wanted to give everyone a shoutout.

Welcome to OCC. Most of us have the older IH built or CCC cadets.
Unless you are sold on a new one, there are some good deals on heavier duty tractors out there. But to each his own.

Have to agree with Terry on this one. The XT1 is nice "lawn mower" I would think about what it is you want to achieve. Charlotte does not get a huge amount of snow but someday you might want a plow or to pull a vac trainer, till a garden, etc. If your looking to have a machine that will do more than cut the grass you might want to look into something built a little tougher new or old. Your in a great part of the country for finding some real nice older cubs. If your not much of a hands on guy "working on or fixing tractor yourself" You might be best off with a new machine with warranty. If thats the case I would suggest going to a dealer over home depot or lowes. That way your dealing with the guy that sold it to you for warranty issues over trying to deal with the big box guys.

Good luck either way

Welcome to Only Cub Cadets!

I agree with the other two posts. An XT1 is good if it is used correctly. That hill will wear one out quickly. An older Cub will last longer, but you will have to work on it once in a while. If you definitely want a new one, you should talk to a dealer, and see what they recommend for your yard.

If you do get one, make sure you post some pictures of it!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
