Default Backrest for pan seat on Cub Cadet 100?

I have seen a few backrests on 100 pan seats.I think ACecil and litlmikeyl has/had them. Were they an option when new or a later addition maybe meant for some other tractor or equipment? I have a couple of 100's w/pan seat that I would like to have backrests for. Does anyone know where I might buy a backrest?

They look like back rests from 50's office chairs or steel shop stools (the gray ones with the masonite pad). Maybe something like that could be used?

that's what i was thinking, you could pick up a chair at a flea market for cheap and steal the backrest off it and make the brackets.

There was one on one of my "Os" when I bought it. Had to take it off when I put the 3 point on.

I've never had one of those stools and the Original side by side but they really do look like the stool backrests that Berwil described.

If you can find a junk Holland transplanter like tobacco farmers used from the 60's to about early 90's, you could get a backrest there. I know its not "correct" but if you are after function and not restoration, it could be an option.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
