My Wife's Custom 149RB (Raised Bed) Tractor

I built this tractor for my wife this spring to help with the garden bed and weeding chores in her very large garden. It started as a beat up 149 that I used in the winter, but since I got my first diesel now I want all of MY chores to be done with diesels. The idea behind the tractor was to make a cub that could straddle a 3' wide garden bed so you don't have to drive-in or step-in it to till, plant or weed. I use a 40" tiller to till the bed, then I put the brinly cultivator on it and pull a few of the shovels off there supports and mark where the rows will be planted. then I put the shovels back on the cultivator and run it on either side of the planted rows to make weeding so much more fun.
I built wheels that would handle larger tires 8"-16" bar tires in the rear and 12" tri ribs in the front. the rear rims are made from garden tractor centers and 98 dodge ram 16" outer shells. The fronts started as 7" x 12" cub wheels that got cut apart and narrowed 3.5".
The front axle had to be built from scratch using some ugly green tractor splindles and trailer 5 bolt hubs and a ton of time.
The rear widening was achieved by using an extra set of cub axle turned down and bolted to the face of the original hub flange (after it had been trued up in the lathe.) The it runs through a pillow block bearing and is welded to a front hub flange off a dodge avenger. ( I will try and get better pics of this part later.

It was a ton of fun to build and my wife loves it (thou I end up running it most of the time since she is not very accustomed to loose cub steering.

This winter I would like to disassemble it and paint it up nice and install power steering so I can tighten up the steering to make it easier for the wife to use it and those large front tires and bad draglink angle have already broken one steering box.

I am going to install power steering. The cylinder will be parallel to the front axle.

I don't know what it is about this mod.. It has to be one of my favorites.. I don't know if it is the big fronts, or the fact it just looks jacked.. But either way I love it.. Very nice.. Good luck with the rest of the mods.
