Default Has anyone seen this on a #4 cart?

Hello all,

A friend of a friend just gave me a 124 and a #4 cart. I was doing a little research to see if it was an IH cart (which lead me to discover that it was indeed a #4), and all the ones that I saw had a model number tag attached to the front of the body of the cart. It almost seemed to be a "foil" sticker. When I checked this one again, it is a stamped tag riveted to the tongue area. I haven't been able to find a picture of a similar one. Has anyone seen this before? I'll have to figure out how to attach a pic.

Now that you mention it, I guess there are a lot of differences. I just picked it up yesterday. Before that, i was comparing the pics on my phone to the ones on the computer...guess i missed a lot of details. There are still some similarities though. Until i remove the paint from the tag, I cant make out all of the digits. Anybody have any idea what it is?

FALSE ALARM: Darkminion was correct. It wasn't a #4, unfortunately.

Here's what it is.

Or you can clean it up a little and sell it. There are people out there who collect Sears and Crappsman stuff.

It's not really that one either - different tags!

I have a Sears trailer that is built like the one in your original photos. It too had the aluminum tag as yours but I removed it before having the trailer sandblasted for repainting. I put the tag away somewhere safe, it's still safe (I assume).

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
