You win the day Alvy!

I took all the terminals apart and cleaned them, and still had the same issue, so I went into a box of spare parts I have left from an engine swap in my car, where it came with the entire fuse box and I saved all the fuses and relays. I had a socket that fits it from the 2185 harness, and I found one of those relays that I knew I had, and wired it up. It fires up every time now. The relay mod did the trick and I didn't have to go out and buy anything. Thank you!

Almost completed this project. A few small things to iron out yet, like the deck height adjust, and grill. The muffler outlet doesn't line up with any holes in the grill so I'm running it without the grill for now. I've been running it, and pulling around the #2 IH cart I got in a trade of my Kohler Series II engine from the 682 with member Rmowl.

A long overdue update here, I’ve added a rear lift and a down stop bracket for the rod. The bracket for the downstop rod is just some angle iron I had laying around. I drilled holes to match the ones in the frame and bolted through it. I had to shorten the rod by about 2” and tap the threads further up. The threads didn’t turn out too well but it’s effective. I was going to try to modify a rear hitch plate for it but the lift arm hits it. There isn’t enough room between the frame and rear lift arm to have that bracket on there since it bolts on the inside of the frame.

I also put a 1/2” spacer in each side under the battery tray where it bolts to the frame for the two rearmost holes to level up the fender and seat. I was worried the bolt holes wouldn’t line up for the foot plates but with some gentle persuasion I got the bolts in. With the SST axle on the front it lifts it up and makes it feel like you’re riding a wheelie a bit. So I’ve been trying to figure out a good way to get around that.

I switched the manual release valves from the transmission to automatic ones as well because I could not get the manual release lever to line up right.

Over time it morphed to a 16hp engine, 682 body, and 1641 frame. So ...1682?
