I believe MTD is interested in selling new complete machines. Not parts and not interested in customer loyalty as witnessed by them discontinuing many, many parts that aren't really that old and charging three prices for the ones that are still on the books.

Further testified to by the stuff they are selling today and calling them lawn/garden tractors.

Remember the 2086 panels don't share the same muffler and cooling slot cut-out pattern as the 2182 or 1782, same idea, but a different program. Sam is right though, not sure you know what you are getting yourself into! It has been a shame that so many of these machines were scrapped or parted out because MTD has chosen discontinue so many parts for this series of tractors.

My guess is OCC type owners are MTD's worst nightmare. If we can't buy it new we get PO'd and make it ourselves. How do you like me now MTD? We have been forced to be like the Cubans keeping 1950's vintage Chebbys running

Default I have a 2082

I have the 2082 and really thinking about taking the 82' searies dash and parlaying the trim over my cyclops. I see people have talked about it but never seen a full pic of it with the tins on and how it looks when finished.

If it looks good i will have to find a 82 series and cyclops dash to do this woth.

Same with the 2000 series and their flimsy steel. I’ve seen very few that are good. Mostly they’re mangled and rusted. Metal doesn’t just deteriorate like that. It’s poor care, carelessness

Just fix whatever plastic is damaged on your tractor and put a front bumper on it and you'll be time/money ahead.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
