Thanks Diz Jr. ! That was some mighty elbow grease to get the transmission down like that. So glad to see it in primer! There is still a lot to be said and done to this part, but at any rate I hope to have it in Cub Cadet Yellow before it gets too cold to paint outside.
On a side note, I did however manage { on my lunch break of course } to get to my local Cub Cadet dealer and ordered the following parts: seal - oil...............{rear wheel seal}............................................. ....$7.03 x 2 = $14.06 IH 376216-R2........{reduction housing/trans block} gasket.............$11.81 IH 384725-R2........{reduction cover} gasket.................................$6.19 total=......$32.06 The Cub Cadet dealer is on my street, so for the sake of the sale I get my parts there.

I use Martin Senour Cross/Fire sealer, then I went on to a self-etching gray primer of the same amount of paint coats. Thanks!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
