Default Mower Deck Roller Problem

Guys, I have a 3206 which I absolutely love everything except the mower deck. The rear rollers assembly has broken off twice and this last time it went under the mower deck and got chewed up. Now I need all new blades and the entire assembly which is pricey.

I live on very rough terrain so it gets beat up with rocks and pits. The front casters do just fine. I am wondering if anybody has retrofitted the rear with casters just to provide support. I think it would work so much better.

WOW! What are you mowing? That assembly uses 4 bolts to hold it onto the deck shell. Did you pull the complete assembly up under it and chew it up? I think that is one of the better decks with the large rollers on the back. This is mine that I replaced all the crappy OEM rollers with new rollers with sealed bearings. The shaft that the rollers go on is just a piece of 3/4 rod IIRC and can be replaced for about $30.

The later 3K machines did away with the rollers and went back to the anti-scalp wheels but those machines have a deck height adjustment stop on the floor of the tractor. I'm not sure if yours has that. I know that when you back up with the deck lowered the rollers can sometimes catch on things but I wouldn't think it would pull it off. Do you have any pictures of what it looks like now? There is a guy selling the newer type deck that is NOS in Tennessee on Ebay now but I don't know if that will fit your machine.

Sorry guys I thought I subscribed to this one. Yes that's my deck. When I smack into a rock or hill it eventually breaks one of the two lower sliding bolts, then it's only a matter of time before it swings out, bends the upper flange, and is under the rear wheel. I guess I'll just rebuild it again.

You may want to be a little easier on it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
