From a CC dealer? Or an IH dealer? The Cub Cadet fluid may be a pale brown. CCC isn't owned by IH anymore so it stands to reason that it is not the same fluid as Case IH Hy-Tran.

Unless that new CIH fluid has some major changes in recent, Hy-Tran has been red since it came out over 50 years ago.

I don't know if there is a color difference but I do know there is Hytran Ultra that is a Synthetic version of Hytran. The stuff I used is regular, Cub Cadet branded not IH. My pic in post #5 shows part of the oil quarts I used.

No. No it isn't. Hy-Tran Ultra SSL is synthetic. Basic Hy-Tran Ultra is not synthetic.

Yes, I understand, that's what I meant to say. Sorry for being unclear.

Just want to make sure, because they are two different oils. They make both.

Just like Penzoil makes 5W-30 and 5W-30 Synthetic Blend.

I could have gotten the wrong thing (wouldnt be the first time), but thought I got the same thing two different times and once it was red and the second batch was brown.

Here is what the brown container looks like.

Ok. Was it opened? Looks like the same jug as earlier in the thread. I'd say it should have been red.

Brand new un opened. The seal with the pull tab intact under the cap

Now I know I didn't dream it, my previous container was red but from a different supplier. I have a mix of this brown and the red in my tractor at the moment.....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
