Found this on Red Power Magazine's site. Say's the builder is from Metamora, Illinois. I'd really like to talk to him. Info anyone? Say's he is the host at the Roanoke, Illinois plow day every October.
Here is a link to the site with the pics. Sorry, I couldn't make them bigger.....Red Power Magazine. PP1.jpgpp2.jpg |

That was a custom built 2 bottom plow to emulate it's bigger IH brother's design. I don't recall the fabricator. IIRC, that was built 5-7 years ago.

Steve Blunier is the one who built the plow 2-3 years ago.

Yep, Steve Blunier. His Dad has a farm out by Roanoke, IL. They hold a plow day at the farm every fall. My parents live about 10 miles from Roanoke and Metamora. Steve hangs out over at another forum. He is one heck of a fabricator.

Thanks for all the insight guys! Seems like things are coming together on my little plans. Now have a 582 and looks like I'm going to have a diesel to throw in it here soon. I was planning on building a model IH 500 plow just like this, and happened onto the pictures by accident. I pulled a model 560 on our farm and his build confirms that a GT will pull it which was my only concern. I'd like to get a few more pics of it. Thanks again!
![]() Edit: Now I just need another 8" plow. I think I will use 8" instead of 10" like he did. His only take an 8" bite anyway, and I already have one 8" plow. |

I think if I were to build one, it would be a trailer.
![]() ![]() If not that it would be an on-land hitch. ![]() Nobody has done an on-land hitch,,,,,,, YET! ![]() |

I considered doing a land hitch plow.... but for a 2 bottom, I think it would pull sideways too hard. If it were longer, and more of the plow was right behind you, yes. But as a 2 bottom 8" most all the pull would be 8" next to you and right behind the right drive tire. It would be tough to drive straight.
![]() On a GT I think semi-mounted is the way to go. Puts down pressure on the rear and it pulls directly behind the tractor. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
