May have to try that cooking method sometime.
My mother never put up (froze) corn on the cob, always cut it off the cob. Most years put up the corn off 5-700 ears. Lets just say there were very few metal cans of veggies in that household. The wife and I always froze corn on the cob, around 80-120 ears a year. The year my son was born I came home from the hospital (he was in the NICU for a while) and pulled, shucked, silked, blanched, chilled, and wrapped about 80 ears. Doesn't take too long with 2 big pots on the stove, but man does it get HOT in the kitchen!
Oh yeah, we always preferred Silver Queen corn.
