The AGS 2160 was part of CC's 2000 series lawn tractor line (the line also included the 2130, 2135, 2140, 2145, 2165 and 2185). They were made from 1994 to 1999. The 2160 had a 6-speed gear direct drive transmission with AutoGear system (hence the AGS moniker), with a 16 hp Briggs Vanguard engine. The Autogear transmission was a gear drive with the gear selector lever on the right fender. There was also a forward and reverse pedal and there lies the problem with them. Even though the owner's manual cautions owners NOT to drive them as you would a hydrostatic, most did therefore damaging the clutch plates. The right way to drive one was to select the gear you wanted and then smashed the pedal for the desired direction (either forward or reverse) ALL THE WAY DOWN. With the pedals it was either all the way up or all the way. You were not supposed to control the speed with the pedal, that was done with the gear selector. But most owners control the speed with the pedals and clutch plates were damaged. Cub Cadet discontinued the Autogear after 1999.

A AGS 2160 will look like this HDS 2165: http://cubcadet.1.forumer.com/index.php?showtopic=161 You will find the AGS 2160 in this 1994 Full Line Brochure:
