We have black iron pipe here in the farm shop, no problems after 35 years. At work we have really heavy wall plastic--could be PVC, CPVC-I don't really know. Its 22 years old and we have had a few blowouts over the years. Its pretty easy to splice into it when we need to make repairs or add/rearrange equipment. Boss was looking into replacing it all with some sort of aluminum, don't know why he didn't follow through. FWIW, we run 100-105 psi at work, at the farm shop its about 140--wherever the compressor cuts off at. Oh yeah, at shop the lines are steel in the compressor house, we switch to plastic once they are inside the shop, past the regulator. Early on the plastic didn't like the heat and cold in the compressor house is why we made the switch.
