And that is how most chain is sold, in 10' lengths. it is inexpensive chain so no big investment.
FWIW:
if you don't know, the master link clip opening or cotter pin opening (if cotter pin style) should trail the direction of rotation.
Why? so if it contacts an object like a stick it will not be flicked off.
It happens quite often where debris is encountered.
IE: trail or motorcycle biking ---BTDT.
