Stands for Auto Gear System (or something along those lines). Very poor design. It says it as part of the model number. IE, AGS 2160. It's a gear drive tractor, but it required you to push a pedal to drive. They didn't last long because people would drive them like a hydro. They'd let part way up off the pedal to slow down, which just slipped the clutches.
