1200 snow removal

Hi,looking for opinions, about picking up a snowblower/snowthrower. Of the ones to fit my 1200, what is the most reliable,best built unit. I have about 200' of concrete driveway. We typically don't get dumped on but every few storms it lets loose. I have a blade and a 24" Ariens I use now. Its about the same time wise with either machine.
Thx Dan

The Haban H48 won't work on your QL. Neither will the 353/4. Only the H42.

QA42A is the most common and easy to find. ALL other options are not as common and can be hard to find. If you want a snowthrower, you may pick any of the models you listed (that fit) as there are basically no difference other than size.... with one exception. The 364 blower requires a specific adapter to run on a QL tractor. They weren't a common blower and finding the correct mounting parts is difficult on a perfect day. QA42A is your best bet.

That said, you will need a creeper on your 1200 to run a snowthrower/blower. Does it have one?

The QA36A or QA42A Snowthrowers were designed for the 1200.

Nope, no creeper. I read the first 20+ pages here about blowers/throwers. I saw lots had mentioned keeping it loaded to throw properly. My hopes were on typicals snows it would work better than I hoped :biggrin2:. But if thats not the case than so be it. Is a creeper hydro only? If not difficult to install? Is it another gear set?

Yes, gives you high low range. Here's a picture that I stole from sawdustdad of one on his 1000;

Here's my 125 ( hydro ) with a QA42 ( narrow frame version of the QA42A which is adjustable for both )

Watch some snowblowing/throwing vids on YouTube. Watch how slow they have to go when the snow gets pretty deep. That’s why you want a creeper on a gear drive with a thrower. Or you have to ride the clutch a lot .

Agreed. I had engine problems one year on my 125 and switched the QA-42 over to the 122 with a creeper.

While it worked well, there was a LOT of shifting required between gears and high and low range.

Let's just say it was an incentive to fix the K-301 for the 125.

And yes, you can bolt a QA implement onto a NF without the QA mounts.

Jeff posted one, but here's another. :biggrin2:

(Sorry about the quality, it's an old cell phone video.) And that's a 18hp with a QA42A in snow about as hard and heavy as it gets. Can't go very fast when it's deep. I'll have to look and see if I have a video of the same tractor with the 450 blower on it.

My pops has a 450 on an 1811. Heavy piece but man does it work!
